Dating Advice

My parents always had my best in their mind but somehow they really made social development difficult for me. You see, I was home-schooled and therefore kind of isolated from all the other kids my age. There was no hanging out with the neighborhood girls growing up or to going to parties. When I had my first date – at the age of 16 – my dad tried to give me some simple dating advice. He claimed that as long as you are polite and behave like a gentleman it will always be easy to meet nice women.

Needless to say that his dating tips did not do me any good in life. I didn’t have much experience when I got to college and wanted to go out and meet girls and no good advice on dating either. Even worse, I did not know where to get good dating tips. Most of the boys were eager to give out a dating tip to anyone who was willing enough to listen, but they were always pretty clumsy about it. Their dating tips basically only aimed at how to get a girl to let you spend the night. But that wasn’t really the kind of relationship I was interested in but I could not find some serious relationship advice.

The problem is that if it comes to love and dating everyone thinks like he is an expert although they aren’t. Everyone will offer you dating tips if you want them or not. Whether it was my roommate talking about the clothes I should wear when I went out on dates or my best friend recommending movies we should go to, it was hard to find someone who didn’t have an opinion on dating. So I wasn’t able to get a hand on some good dating tips that I trusted and I was overwhelmed with a lot of advice I didn’t actually ask for in the beginning.

I tried writing into a dating advice column but that didn’t do me any good. They refused to answer my question as it was not racy enough. Finally, I gave up on dating tips. It was clear to me that whatever I would want to learn about love and romance I have to learn myself. It took me some time to figure out how to meet women, but I did figure it out in the end. As long as you aren’t afraid to talk to them, everything goes with ease.
